- Generating knowledge to address the great challenges of the time, like health care, ecology, and an increasingly digital society, through innovative, interdisciplinary research, practice and scholarship
- Advocating for the improvement of built, natural and social environments, through design activism, public service and public education
The Healthcare program aims for the improvement of public health practice, health service delivery and the general health status of the community, the state of Pennsylvania, the nation and the international community through applied, innovative, collaborative, theoretically sound approaches to the integration of teaching, research and service.
Our Vehicular/Automotive Engineering program is housed in a state-of-the-art building equipped with full-scale vehicle testing equipment. Coupled with the services of our highly-skilled technical staff, the facilities are like a wonderland for bright, inquisitive students.
Thanks to the work of our world-class faculty, our students learn in an innovative research-and-educational program that focuses on the vehicle and its infrastructure from a systems-integration perspective. Our entire program is devoted to the discipline of automotive engineering. This focus sets us apart and gives our students remarkable opportunities.
The Aerospace Engineering program is well recognized nationally and internationally for its excellence in engineering education, research contributions, and scholarships and service. We are one of the largest aerospace programs in Pennsylvania, and a significant source of engineering graduates for the state and the nation. Our faculty is proud of its significant contributions to the development of knowledge and educational innovations in Mechanical Engineering. The faculty members are a dedicated group of engineering professionals, with many fellows of engineering societies, editors or associate editors of professional journals, and winners of very prestigious competitive grants. The department undergoes continuous improvement to adapt to the evolving needs of the profession, but remains committed to excellence in research, education, and service to society.
The Information Technology program prides itself on groundbreaking research on developing new technologies and understanding how technology can better shape the world. World-class faculty, graduate and undergraduate researchers collaborate with each other and across disciplines in the pursuit of discovery.
One of the few institutions outside of the military that trains individuals in defense technology, the Defense Technology program is primarily funded by the US government. It offers comprehensive avenues of innovation to keep the military strong and well-equipped. Powering innovations in aircraft, naval craft, weapons technology, and security forces, Durnstein's Defense Technology program is second to none.
